Kittens' last night

Six weeks

The kittens really know how to party on a Friday night. There are some serious shenanigans going on in the kitten room. They like to climb, or at least try to climb, onto everything: the carrier, the litter box, the chair, the water bowl. They're also really into jumping onto things, especially onto each other. Lots of puffed-up tails these days!

Five! Weeks!

Some milestones:

1. I think all of them have used and/or are using the litter box, although not consistently. Accidents happen!
2. Three of the five have ingested food (chicken baby food), and only as of an hour ago. Progress! Birdie is especially happy about this.
3. All like to drink water from the water bowls, so they are becoming familiar with drinking out of a bowl rather than from mom's nipples.
4. They are running, jumping, climbing, and hunting. Earlier, Pearl got so excited playing that her tail puffed up. I wish I had snapped a photo of it - it was precious. And funny.

A guide

...to tell the three black kittens apart. They look similar, and when they were younger, they were almost indistinguishable. What sets them apart, at least right now (I'm sure this will soon change as they get older), are their bellies. Spot has a white spot on his lower belly, just like his mom. Chester has a few white(r) areas on his chest and a faint white line on the lower part of his belly. And Baby doesn't have any white spots or areas on his belly at all, it's mostly just a solid gray. And Baby is named Baby because he weighs the least of them. Here they are, top to bottom, Baby, Chester and Spot:

Playful

Today the kittens seemed especially playful, which is fun to observe. They like to run, although their running is more of a jump-like gallop, since they are still mastering walking. In other news, Chester used the litterbox tonight! I believe this was his first time, and as far as I know, he is the first of his siblings to use it. Way to go, Chester!

Happy One Month!

The kittens turn one month old today. Actually, as of right now, Baby will turn one month in about 15 minutes. They have outgrown the kitty pool enclosure and have graduated to free roaming of the kitten room. Pearl is the most adventurous and is working on her stalking kills. Baby is close behind. Earl likes to hang out with the others and is usually found tussling with one or more of the black kittens. Chester is pretty mellow and likes to watch. Spot likes to either be playing hard or totally dozing. Their daily growth and progress amazes me!

Supervised romp session

Let them out of the pool this evening to roam a bit. They love hanging out under the chair and haven't gotten more than two or three feet from the pool.
